Ever Look Into Those Innocent Little Eyes and Wonder If They Know More Than You Do? May 11 2016, 0 Comments
Ever look into those innocent little eyes and wonder if they know more than you do?
Think about it—they come into this world completely unscathed and unjaded, our little bundles of joy. Everything is new. A dog. A tree. The sound of a piano or a bird or a vacuum. They’ve never experienced these things before. They don’t know what they are, but they’re able to experience everything for the very first time. Imagine that.
Somehow, it seemed to me when I looked into my newborn daughter’s eyes, there was a wisdom that I’d forgotten. I’d been born with it, too. But years of living had wiped that wisdom away and replaced it with the blandness of knowing.
I want to get that back, somehow. I miss it. Think of just how beautiful the world must be when a chess board isn’t a problem to be solved, but an opportunity to play with shapes and colors and little men, regardless of their status as kings, queens or rooks. Where everything is, equally, new and amazing.
